We built our family cottage in 1987, the year my brother was born. It’s technically my uncle and aunt’s cottage but the entire family has been going there for about 24 years now. It’s on a beautiful lake up in northern Ontario. The lake has a beautiful sand beach and a sand bottom. It is really shallow near the shore, it’s just above your ankles for about 50 feet, which makes it great for kids to play in! See in this picture where the further boats are? That’s about waist deep.
When I decided to go home in the summer, I knew I had to make a trip to the cottage. My cousin Tim is a teacher so he is basically living at the cottage for the entire summer! At first just my mom and I were going to visit Tim at the cottage, then my cousin Michelle (who lives in NYC) decided to make a trip the same time I did so she joined us. Her sister Jenn suddenly got the time off work and then their mom thought she might as well come too. So other than my grandparents and my brother, the ENTIRE family was at the cottage. It was just like when we were kids!
The second day we were there my step sister Jordan and her 5 month old daughter Avery came to visit. I hadn’t met Avery yet so I was really excited!!!
She is not the most beautiful baby ever? I was a very proud auntie!
Avery loves the lake!
One of the best things about the cottage is the games we play at night. Has anyone ever played apples to apples? I thought it was a kids game but it’s not! It’s so much fun!!
My 3 cousins and my mom playing cards one night.
So that’s about it for my cottage trip. I just read my book on the beach and took a ton of naps. Isn’t that what vacations are for?
