For the last 2 weeks I’ve been trying to actually work out! And I’m happy to say I did quite a few times.
I did the 30 Day Shred on level one, twice. MAN did I feel that one. I struggled to get through it, and for a few days after each one, I was sore. Good sore.
Then my new DVDs finally came: Lindsay Brin’s Pregnancy series. It has a DVD for each trimester (which will come in handy for the next baby) and then a post-natal boot camp, which is what I’ve been doing. This DVD made me sweat, but I wasn’t counting down the time until it was over and I didn’t get sore afterwards. It was way more enjoyable…but does that mean that it did less for me? What do you guys think?
I started the plank challenge that is going around pinterest, where you do the plank for 15 seconds the first day, then 30 seconds the next ect. until you reach 2 minutes. I’m on 45 seconds today. I loathe the plank you guys. But in my mom and baby Yoga class they told us that crunches aren’t good for post-baby moms because it can increase the separation between your abs (if you have it). I don’t have it, but I’m still scared. So the plank is my go to core workout, and I hope I grow to love it.
We have been very active. Somehow, I keep having appointments in the same area of town but like 3 hours apart. It’s not quite enough time to go home and do anything in between, so I’ve been going to a mall or IKEA and just walking. So far I haven’t even bought anything! Just walking around for hours on end.
It’s also been crazy warm here. So I’ve been wearing Henry in my new ERGO carrier (love it!) and walking the dog. No Coyote sightings.
Then there are swimming lessons. It’s basically half an hour of bouncing up and down, while walking in a circle, in the water (hello resistance!), while raising Henry in and out of the water to an up beat children’s song. It makes my body crazy sore (in a good way). I had no idea it would be such a good work out for me.
Oh Food. Something bad has happened this week. Brownies. When I make Brownies, I eat just brownies for like 3 days until they are gone. It’s my weakness. And I bought a big bulk box of mix from Costco that NEVER RUNS OUT. It’s like the magical refilling box. Only 2 more mixes left. I’ve moved the box to the very back of my pantry out of sight. I know that if I can go a week without the brownies, I stop craving them. So this week I’m going to try to get back there.
I also think I need more veggies in my life. So I’m going to start adding a smoothie back into the mix. I love a smoothie.
Bottom Line: Still holding steady at -2 pounds.

1) If Lindsay Brin doesn’t make me sore or want to die…is it still a good workout?
