Being pregnant with your in laws around rocks. Not only do they play with your toddler, and love him to pieces, but they also carry your diaper bag, and let the dog out the 1 million times he wants to go out, and carry the laundry basket upstairs for you, and let you lay on the couch when you are so so tired, and take that crazy dog on walks when you wish you could but then you’d have to get up from the couch where you are laying because you are so so tired. Plus they rotate the laundry when you forget that you did put wash in the washer, saving you from having to wash it again. Plus a million other things.
I’m tired. Not because I’m not sleeping well, but because I’m 33 weeks pregnant. I feel heavy. Standing for a long time makes me sleepy. Getting up off the floor makes me sleepy. Doing my hair makes me sleepy. Then when I go to bed at night I’m wide awake. Laying down doesn’t make me sleepy. But that’s to be expected. I have bursts of energy too. I have days where I can go go go. I’ll have like 3 of those days in a row. Then I’ll have a day when I’m exhausted all day. I’ll nap when Henry naps and go to bed when Henry goes to bed. My energy bursts mostly come at night. I’ll put Henry to bed and be planning to go to bed myself but then I’ll end up doing hours and hours worth of chores. Which is good because they need to be done, but odd that the time I choose to do them is so late.
I’ve also reached the point where everything is getting awkward. I can’t carry the laundry basket well, I can’t bend over from my chair at the dinner table to pick up Henry’s fork/ spoon/ sippy cup. The belly is just big, and it’s going to get even bigger. I do love the belly though.
And the movement? Amazing. It’s not painful (yet?), it’s just wonderful. I think I can tell where his body parts are. He is loving the right side of the belly, just like Henry did. I made John feel my belly the other night because the right side is always rock hard due to the entire baby body hanging out there and the left is kinda soft like it’s totally empty.
Things to note: My linea nigra from Henry’s pregnancy is still super faint (it never left) but it hasn’t gotten darker. By this point last time the line was dark and quite visible. I wonder if that will happen this time?
Here is my 33 week pregnancy update from my pregnancy with Henry.
And now for the past week with William:
Sleep? Good. Sometimes it takes me forever to fall asleep. Sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes I can’t go back to sleep once I wake up to pee. Sometimes I can. I think all in all it’s better than it was last time I was pregnant. So I’ll take it!
Appointment: Great. Weight gain is perfect, baby William’s heart rate was 140 bpm and he is head down but is probably face up (not to worry he’s got time to rotate), belly is measuring 33 cm (perfect). Discussed birth and things like delivering the placenta, eye drops and vitamin K. I’m going to read up on water birth. I was OK with not having one but my midwife said to read up on it so at the time I can make an informed choice. I bought my home birth kit. And my next appointment is at 36 weeks and it’s a home visit! YAY!
Pregnancy Moment with John:
R: I’m over today. Henry and Rudy are working together to drive me crazy.
J: Plus you are in the 3rd trimester.
He’s always pointing out the hormones.
