John, Henry and I spent 2 hours at home depot deciding on paint colours on Saturday morning. TWO HOURS. That’s a long long time, especially for an 18 month old. It turns out I like cool colours and John likes warmer colours. There were conversations like this:
J: That’s a cool colour and the room is already so cold!
R: In the summer the room is so hot so then what kind of colour do we pick?
J: Fine get grey.
R: Are you just giving in?
R: No. I want you to like the colours
Then more time would pass and we would have the same conversation over slightly different colours. Eventually we did agree on a colour and then the paint lady told us it had pink undertones. Which we then couldn’t not see, and since it’s for the boy room…we just couldn’t choose it.
But alas we did agree. We bought Behr Paint and Primer in one (more durable) and picked a color called Garden Wall for most of the room. I would have painted the whole room that color but John wanted a brown wall so we also got a small can of Oakwood Brown for the window wall. I spent as much time as possible (Henry’s nap time and bed time) on Saturday afternoon emptying the room (and just piling stuff in the middle of the room like the dressers and the bed), taking the electrical covers off the wall and washing the walls so they would be ready for paint. It was so late and I still had to rinse the walls and John (who I thought was almost asleep) came in to help me! Love that guy.
Sunday John woke up at a silly early hour (I don’t even know what time) and he taped the whole room and got all the paint supplies set up. That way, as soon as we got home from church (and put Henry down for a nap) we could just start painting. And we did. We painted the 3 “Garden Wall” walls, 2 coats, and removed the tape so we could touch up. Yay for progress!
As I type this John is cutting in the other wall. We will definitely have the whole room painted by tonight! After we give it a few days to dry really well, we can set up Henry’s new room! I’m excited!
|The wall on the right is already painted “Garden Wall”, the window wall is still the original colour. And there’s my handsome husband getting ready to paint it!|
