My number one pregnancy craving has always been iced tea. But since I like to limit my caffeine when I’m pregnant, I always tried not to drink it. Until John was like “why don’t I just make you some decaf?” and voila: The best iced tea EVER. You can switch up what kind of tea you use, so if you are pregnant or not a fan of caffeine, you can easily use decaffeinated! We usually use green tea. Here is his recipe:
– 4 cups (1 litre) boiling water.
-5 green tea bags or equal portions of green tea (15 grams)
-5 TBSP sweetness (we prefer 3 TBSP of Honey + 2 TBSP of Agave syrup)
1) Add teabags to boiling water, let brew until cool.
2) Wash Lemons. Cut one lemon in half and juice both halves into a juice container. Cut the second lemons into thirds. Juice the end pieces and slice the centre piece.
3) Remove teabags from cooled/lukewarm tea, add sweetness, pour into container with Lemon juice and slices. This makes a concentrated iced tea mixture.
Alternative serving options
-Mix a ratio of ¼ water, ¼ Pomegranate or Apple or any other type of juice and ½ lemon green tea mixture.
-My (John) favorite concoction is to mix ¼ of lemon green tea mixture with ¾ beer and a few ice cubes. This sounds gross to Rae but I love it.
