I have a yearly tradition with my friend Vanessa where we go to the Festival of Crafts-Christmas Market to buy our yearly Christmas ornaments (and other fun Christmas gifts!). I always look forward to it. This year I was super excited to HIRE A BABYSITTER for the boys, and just bring Tilly along. But as seems to be my luck, our babysitter couldn’t come in the end and I had to take all the kids with me. I was kinda dreading it because even though the boys are awesome, taking them somewhere they have to be patient and couldn’t touch anything wasn’t going to be easy. It also happened to be one of the coldest days we will get this winter. I fought to fit the stroller in my car, fought to get all the kids bundled up to get them into the car, just to unbundle them for the car ride (the no puffy coats thing in car seats is a royal PAIN in my behind). By the time I was ready to drive away all the kids were crying and I was about to just take everyone back inside. But I figured we might as well go! I thought it would be terrible, but the kids were pretty good for the whole trip besides a few meltdowns over train related merchandise. We ever got to see Calgary’s mayor Nenshi on the way out (I love him). Henry helped pick out our ornaments this year and I love the ones we got, just like I do every year.
Speaking of ornaments, I signed up to be part of a Canadian Blogger Ornament exchange this year. Out of everyone who signed up, I was paired with my real life friend Christy! What are the odds? Instead of mailing the packages, we decided to meet up. So on Monday Christy came over (with Starbucks!). She totally spoiled me. She gave us an adorable owl ornament plus home made brownie mix with peppermint M&Ms, kid-sized baking utensils (so I can make them with the kids) and Chocolates. She said she thought to herself “What does Rachel like to do?” Answer: spend time with her kids! She knows me so well! Thanks again Christy! Head to Christy’s blog to see what I got her.
