My theme for First Birthdays is usually just the baby. So Tilly’s birthday was going to be just Tilly themed, but then I wanted to make it specifically girly. Did I mention that the last 4 birthday parties I’ve thrown have been train themed? BRING ON THE GLITTER.
I started by ordering a banner, highchair banner and onsie from my friend Kaileigh at Kaileigh’s Kreations. Then I had about 50 pictures printed from Tilly’s first year. I made a banner of her monthly photos and then I made a number 1 with the rest. Her cake was a homemade carrot cake with purple cream cheese icing and gold sugar sprinkles. I made her a little “smash” cake with some extra batter.
We had the party at 11, thinking we could squeeze it in between Tilly’s naps but of course she didn’t nap that morning. She made it through OK though. It was a crazy day. We had stuff all over our house because our basement flooded the weekend before, it was the day of my uncle’s memorial (in Ontario so we couldn’t go), and Tilly’s actual birthday. My last baby turned 1! I was such an emotional mess. But we made it through!
