John was on a work trip Thursday through Sunday and it was the first time I was alone with my kids overnight since Tilly was born. That sounds crazy to say! When I was pregnant with Tilly I was often alone over night with the kids because John was running a job in northern Alberta, and he was gone 10 days at a time at least once a month but sometimes twice. It was challenging with all the hormones I had floating around my body and I was glad when that job ended and I got to keep my parenting partner. So when he told me about this work trip, I was totally Ok with it… until I realized I had never solo parented my 3 minis alone for days at a time! Then I got a little nervous. I knew to keep my sanity I would need lots of adult interaction so I made a few plans and all in all I had a great time with my kids! They are pretty great kids.
Here’s some things that are going on around here
1)Basement work: We had some contractor troubles but things are moving along now. We have repaired dry wall and carpet! Next up is paint (that’s my job…or maybe John’s), doors and trim. Then it’s done!
2) New clock: Our old kitchen clock died and I was finally able to find a place for this giant Ikea clock I’ve been loving for months.
3) Good Bye Baby Things: Since I kinda want another baby but John does not, I have been very eager to get rid of all the baby things. Perhaps that is my coping mechanism? I bought Tilly a dresser so we could get rid of her changing table and I want to move her to a bed (since we already have it). She’s not a great sleeper so I don’t think it will effect her. I sold all our bottles and I am trying to sell basically everything else. Then at the end of October I will take the rest to a local charity that helps Moms in need. I also look forward to less clutter!
