Happy Monday! Happy November! And if you are a Calgarian, Happy First Snow Day! Yup, it snowed this morning, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to melt by the end of the day, but none the less my kids were over the moon about it.
Can we talk about the weekend? It was a good one. Friday night I went to a mom’s night out. Can I just tell you that over the past year I’ve made a ton of great friends in my small town and they are all about putting your kids to bed and THEN going out. Genius! Especially since we all live so close. So John and I tag teamed bedtime at 7pm and then I had SO MUCH TIME to get ready, and went out at 8:30pm. We drank wine, we ate appetizers, we chatted about our kids. It was lovely!
Saturday was Halloween. When Tilly napped that afternoon I started painting a few walls on our main floor. We couldn’t find a paint that matched the original paint to patch up a few holes, so we had to pick a new one. So slowly we are painting the whole main floor and stair well during Tilly’s nap times. It will probably take us a month to finish and that’s OK with me. Then after dinner we handed out candy. Our family doesn’t celebrate Halloween but we do carve pumpkins earlier in October (a fun fall activity in my eyes) and we do hand out candy to our friends in our neighbourhood. I feel like it’s a good opportunity to teach our kids about service, so we do it. They are always so excited to give treats to their friends.
Sunday we went to church as we normally do, but Henry’s Sunday School teacher was sick so he didn’t have class after. We came home and I got right to painting again. I really like the new colour! We chose Thunder by Benjamin Moore. I also managed to wash ALL our laundry, fold it and put it into baskets to be brought upstairs. Man, I’m always surprised how much laundry we have!! Once the kids were sleeping (it was before 7pm because of the time change), John and I cleaned up and watched a few episode of Scandal on Netflix. We are loving it right now! Tilly woke up at 10:30 and would not go back to sleep without me touching her so I headed to bed. And that’s about it!
