For the last 5 summers I have had either a baby, or a 1 year old…or both. We’ve always enjoyed our backyard, but with babies it’s a ton of work. Making sure they don’t essentially kill themselves at every single moment: Don’t drink the bubbles, don’t touch the wasps, no cars on our railing-less deck…actually just stay off the deck, don’t play in the fire pit (God knows what you’ll dig up in there), pools + water tables= water hazards, HOW DID YOU FIND DOG POOP… PLEASE DON’T EAT IT! I maxed out after an hour. Mommy needs a break guys! Back into our well child proofed house so I can blink and know you’re still safe.
It was exhausting.
But this year? This year we’ve reached the sweet spot. Tilly is almost 2. All 3 of my amazing kids, can play safely without me. Trust me, I’m still out there. But this year, I’m sitting with my feet up.
It’s the sweet spot. And I will spend all summer there. #momperk
