Last week my Henry turned 5 years old. I can’t believe I’ve been a mom that long and I can’t believe I’ve only been a mom that long! To celebrate his birthday we had birthday pancakes (and sang), then went the zoo, had a steak dinner at his request, and then had ice cream cake and sang again. His grandparents were here for a visit and he was over the moon! Last year I started giving Henry an interview on his birthday. Here is his 4th year one, and here is his 5th year one:
What is your name? Henry
How old are you? Um five years old.
What is your favourite thing to do? Playing Lego
What do you want to be when you grow up? A Fireman
What is your favourite food? Lettuce
Who do you like to spend time with? Mommy
What do you do really well? Playing with Daddy
What makes you laugh? Good guys making funny jokes

What are you afraid of? Bad guys
Who is your best friend? Damien and Addy
What do you like to do with your family? Go to the zoo

Seriously adorable! And while he does eat lettuce, I wouldn’t say it’s his favourite food. Too funny!
Every year with my Henry is the best. As he gets bigger I feel less comfortable telling the internet all about him. He’s his own person and he has his own story. And while my story is obviously intertwined with his, I don’t want to tell too much of his. What I will say is that Henry is REALLY smart. He loves science and will watch documentaries and instructional videos for hours on end if allowed. He’s loving and kind and sweet and cuddly. But he is protective of his own space. I love him so much and I am so proud to be his mom. He seems like this giant independent boy and I get so sentimental about him and then he turns around and asks me to put his shoes on because it’s too much work for him (all 5 year olds are lazy right?). He’s so big but still little. Here’s to another amazing year together, buddy.
