I was going to jump over Christmas and just do a Goodbye 2015 post, but it seemed a little harsh. It’s Christmas after all! How will I ever remember what we did if I don’t blog it?
Early Christmas: My mom and Stepdad were here at the end of November/beginning of December for a visit and we had a early Christmas with them Dec. 4th. We did presents and we had a big dinner (and we froze the left overs so we could eat them on the 25th too!). It was lots of fun and put me into a really Jolly Christmas mood!
Flapjacks and a Flick: John and I are the outreach coordinators at our church and we planned a Christmas outreach event. We invited everyone who wanted to come to our church for a free pancake breakfast and a Christmas movie. We watched Michey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse. It was fun and we had such great reviews. People asked that we make it a yearly tradition and I think we will!
Other fun Christmas Things: Thrown in there somewhere we made and ate a gingerbread train, we had a Christmas event though John’s work, we drove through Spruce Meadows Christmas Lights Display while drinking Hot Chocolate, I made us all matching Christmas Pjs, and back in November we rode the Polar Express. I feel like we really did a lot of fun Christmas stuff with the kids this year!
Christmas Eve: Usually we just have a family movie night for Christmas Eve, but this year my good friend Breanna invited us over for appetizers and games. We couldn’t say no! We had this idealistic vision of the kids watching a Christmas movie while the adults played games and it did NOT go that way at all! But it was still a ton of fun and we might see if our babysitter can come along next year I also was introduced to the card game Dutch Blitz. It was so much fun!
Christmas: Our kids slept in until 8am! Then we opened stocking and presents, ate breakfast and headed off to church. After church we all put our PJs back on and we had a nice relaxing day just hanging out and cooking our Christmas Feast (some of it reheated from when my mom was here). After dinner we watched a Winnie the Pooh Christmas movie since it’s nice and short and then the kids went to bed because they were wiped!
Boxing Day: John’s cousin Jessica is our only family out here. So we had her and her boyfriend over for brunch. Eggs, pancakes, sausages, bacon and mimosas! It was a nice way to get some family time in. That afternoon while Tilly was napping I took the Christmas Tree down. We needed more room to play with our new toys mainly the fort kit, Lincoln Logs and Trampoline!
It was a great Christmas. I hope you all had a nice Christmas too!!
